Upper School Clubs Create Spaces for Enrichment

With more than 50 Upper School student-run clubs and groups, Spence is abuzz with rich and diverse spaces for students to explore and develop their interests and passions beyond the classroom. During the US Clubs assembly, which takes place annually in early fall, club heads introduced their peers to a variety of clubs–from Model United Nations to Sketch Comedy–before the fair kicked off.

Club highlights include Girls into VC, a space for girls interested in venture capital, investment, and economics and founded by Spence alumna Isabella Mandis ’22; Game Face, a club that brings strategy and friendly competition to the table with backgammon and card games; Women in Space Exploration, a group for students interested in aerospace, engineering, and human spaceflight; Grassroots, where students research local current events and issues and build partnerships with organizations to make a tangible difference; and many more.

These programs also include affinity/identity groups, four publications, the Upper School Equity Council, and cross-divisional clubs focused on mentoring younger students. Together, these student-run initiatives are a vibrant part of the Upper School experience, fostering leadership, collaboration, and innovation.
