Spence Debate Team Excels at Recent Events

The Upper School Debate Team recently competed at the 49th University of Pennsylvania Tournament and the Harvard National Speech and Debate Tournament, bringing home very exciting results.

At the University of Pennsylvania, Spence took three public forum teams and two Congressional debaters. Elena M. '24 and Avery C. '25 reached double-octofinals in Varsity Public Forum, securing a silver bid to the Tournament of Champions. Angel O. '26 and Alexy C. '25 competed in Congress for the first time in the Spence Debate Team's history.

At Harvard, Spence took four public forum teams and one Congressional debater. Joanna H. '26 and Zoe Z. '26 reached double-octofinals in Junior Varsity Public Forum. Elena M. '24 and Avery C. '25 were seeded 12th out of over 350 teams and reached double-octofinals in Varsity Public Forum, securing a second silver bid to the Tournament of Champions. In addition, Avery C. '25 placed 4th speaker out of over 700.
