Spence Badminton Earns Hardware as AAIS Tournament Runner-up!

The Spence Badminton Team took home runner-up honors in the AAIS Tournament for the second consecutive year. After dispatching their Quarterfinal and Semifinal opponents by identical 7-0 scores, the upset-minded #2 Sabers had to leave the friendly confines of the 93rd Street den for the lair of the #1 seed, Chapin Gators.

The scrappy Sabers were certainly not going to go quietly, forcing long rallies and mixing deep clears with finesse drop shots. Despite their best efforts, the Spence line-up was unable to play the spoiler and Chapin secured top league honors.

Seniors, Checca P., Amanda Y., Sam Z., Liana P. and Pei Hua C. proudly added another piece of hardware to the Spence "Spring Collection." Juniors, Celia S., Bates C. and sophomores, Jade K., Louise W., Charlotte (Crumbs) G. and Alyson (Better) W. will all return to the core of the team's talented line-up.

In addition, the Sabers were fortunate to have a pack of new comers, sophomores, Daniela F. and Sam H. and freshmen, Jaya S., Kurumi S. and Nancy X., all of whom now have gained a wealth of experience through novice and challenge matches this season.

Congratulations to Spence Badminton on a remarkable season!
